Uphold indigenous knowledge systems
We should get rid of genetically
modified organism (GMO) products and stick to indigenous knowledge systems
(IKS) because they are the basis for local agriculture, food preparation and
natural resource management.
Indigenous knowledge systems
encompass the skills, experiences and insights of people, applied to maintain
or improve their livelihood. They must be integrated with contemporary research
to enable farmers compete and respond to global opportunities and challenges.
GMO products do not do
anything good for health. They are harmful to human beings since they can cause
allergies and can also affect the human digestive system.
My million dollar
question is why GMO products? Why must they manipulate nature? Do they think
they know more than God? Another million dollar question to fellow Zimbabweans,
therefore, is what are we doing about GMO products? We have the land and the
means.
