It’s do or die for Warriors

Zimbabwe National team faces an “hour of reckoning” away to Angola on Sunday despite carrying a seemingly comfortable 3-1 lead.

The Warriors, as Zimbabwe’s national team is affectionately known will either “sink or swim” come match day.

The hungry Warriors should die for our country in Luanda. To devour the Antelopes, as the Angola national team is also known, they should watch out for the dangerous foreign based duo of Manucho and Djalma.

The Antelopes are in a bad situation at the moment and are going to try anything to win.

The Warriors should not be intimidated by the tamed Angolans. Of course, they are a strong team not to be taken likely.

The Angola tie is our game and the key to victory goes beyond just putting the best players on the field.

The players should heed the technical team’s advice and play according to instructions.

Soccer involves tactics beyond just beating the other team with speed, strength or hustle. A mixture of tactics, speed and strength in defense, midfield and offense is crucial to success.

It is quite obvious that Angola will be formidable in their backyard because they are the ones chasing the game.

All the Warriors need to do is not to panic. It is important for the hunters to play their normal game. The players should concentrate.

The core values of “hard work, taking responsibility and serving the nation” are needed to get the result that should propel the team to the Afcon finals.

The technical team should select a line-up based on exploiting the Angolan's weaknesses or withstanding its greatest threats.

To win in Angola by any margin, the players should show confidence, determination and imagination. Soccer is all about team effort. It is not impossible to tackle and beat the Angolans away from home.

The football wound is finally beginning to heal following clearance of more players from the Asiagate scandal. The Warriors now have a better chance because players like Zvasiya, Nkatha, Malajila and Sadomba would stabilise the team.
Good sportsmanship is what is needed for our beloved Warriors to grace their third Afcon appearance in South Africa.
