Fellowship set for dizzy heights

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28: 19-20). This great command is pushing a youthful group to spread the word of God through music.

Fellowship, a Seventh Day Adventist acappella group is spreading the word of God through music. The seven member group from New Mabvuku Church is helping the evangelism wing of the church movement by spreading the word through their performances at concerts and weddings.

“Fellowship is a group of passionate young SDA Church members who love to sing for the Lord,” remarks the group’s director Tendai Musimbe.

He adds, “We are currently working on our debut album and we are promoting some of our tracks during events such as weddings and concerts.”

However, lack of funding is hindering the group to quickly release its first album. “Our biggest challenge is getting funding to record our music. We are eager to quickly release our music to the world,” Musimbe notes.

Despite financial challenges, he said the group will continue with music since it promotes positive behaviour among people.

“Regardless of financial challenges, we are going to work hard and continue with our music since our songs are there to express faith, devotion and praise to God,” says Tafadzwa Nembaware Hove, the group’s spokesperson.

The group’s mouthpiece goes on to say: “Fellowship – a close association of friends sharing similar interests – is a blessing to the Mabvuku community. We are helping people in need through community services and visitations.”

He adds: “Our visits are not limited to Adventists only. We are showing non Adventists our religious work through the use of music and our visits.”

Established in 2009, Fellowship members are all affiliates of the SDA Church. The group comprises Tendai Musimbe (lead), Tafadzwa Nembaware Hove (first tenor), Masimba Mack (baritone), Ngoni Mudadi (lead), Nicholas Musiyakurima (bass), Pedzisai Mangwiro (bass) and Blessing Musimbe (first tenor).

The youthful outfit believes that it is expressing its spiritual and personal communal with God through music and the group’s director urged other musical outfits to use their God given talent to evangelise for God.
