Media urged to unite on national interest

Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Cde Supa Mandiwanzira, says the public and private media have a responsibility to unite on one common important issue of national interests.

Contributing to a topic entitled, “The Media as a Vehicle for the Promotion of National Interests,” at the National Defence College in Harare, Mandiwanzira thus warned Zimbabweans not to be duped by western ideals but to unite on issues of national interest for the good of the country.

“Zimbabweans should not be duped by western ideals that seek to downplay issues of national interests using the ill-conceived notions of media freedom,” he warned.

Fake news: An insidious problem

An escalating number of fake and spoof sites are exploding on a daily basis, spreading phony reports like wildfire on the Internet.
