A new kid on the block,
Dee20 Studios is working on a debut 12 track compilation album that is expected
to be launched soon. The producer of the album is Dickson Mandota aka Bizzy
Dee. Nine artists are working on the album and Weh-reh (Ascend), winners of
Imagine International Festival (2013) and Chibuku Road to Fame is one of the
groups expected to feature.
The producer said
included in the album is a tribute to the late Tendai Mupfurutsa. The track is
titled ‘Respect’ and it was composed by Bizzy Dee and Ike.
Mandota said, “We are
yet to come up with the title of the album but what I can say is that we are
doing this project to identify talent, record artists for free and to nurture
them to be established artists.”
Precious Musarurwa,
Miss Zimbabwe top 8 Finalist 2004 is the co-producer and composer of the album.
She is also responsible for marketing and production of the compilation album.
She said: “We have
passion with arts therefore we are identifying talent and help artists to
record. We are not doing this project to make money out of the artists but we
are doing it passionately to build our brand stable.”
Musarurwa adds, “Since
the album is expected to hit the market in the beginning of September, we want
to help artists under our stable to register with Zimura.”
Bizzy Dee is not new to
the music scene. He was mentored by Tendai Mupfurutsa at High Density Studios
in 1997. At the stable, he produced one of Mupfurutsa’s popular tracks
‘Character’ when he was still a junior in the industry.
Mandota’s seniors at
High Density Studios take in Clancy Mbirimi, Kuda Matimba and Noel Zembe. He
managed to work on Simon Chimbetu’s projects, specifically Hoko and African
Panorama Chapter 2 and he also produced Diamond Musica’s track Sinamakosa.
From High Density
Studios, Mandota joined ESP Studios where he produced Tendai Manatsa and Selmor
Mutukudzi’s first albums. At ESP Studios, Mandota also produced Filbert Marowa,
Victor Kunonga; Bulawayo based group Amavitikazi and South African artist Fred
Gwala.
